Is it OK to upload my class list to a vendor's website in order to use tools they provide?
The College is obligated to maintain student security and FERPA compliance with all entities we work with, including third parties and book publishers. In a case where an instructor wishes to use a third party tool where non-directory or personally identifiable information is shared, either every student will be required to provide consent prior to releasing the non-directory information, or the College or SUNY System Administration must have a valid service agreement or contract in place, where specific security information clauses are included. If an instructor is considering using any vendor product that requires student information, the instructor should begin by contacting The Registrar's Office to determine what steps should be taken.
