I am in my final year, What do I have to do to graduate?

To have your degree conferred, you will need to complete a few steps. The process for conferral is described below:

  1. Check with your academic advisor, program advisor, or graduate coordinator to be assured you have met , or will meet, all of the requirements for degree conferral.
  2. Once you have confirmed that you will meet the requirements, apply for degree conferral online to inform the Registrar's Office and your Associate Dean that you intend to graduate.
  3. If you are a teacher certification candidate, be sure to complete the steps required for a NYSED TEACH authorization and the certificate application.
  4. Applying for conferral will identify you as a degree candidate, and will initiate the degree checklist which is sent to your advisor/coordinator.
  5. Your degree is formally conferred after all of the grades are in from your final semester. If you continue to meet all requirements, your degree will be conferred. If you are deficient, you will be contacted by the Associate Dean's Office or Student Records and Registration to inform you.

We use your SUNY Cortland email address to communicate with you regarding the graduation process. This will include specific inquires, as well as general graduation status announcements. Be sure to check your email frequently for important information.
