Can a faculty member request an oversized room? (Example: a 100 seat room for 50 students.)
Faculty can request an oversized room, however we can only confirm that room when all other needs are met. Alternate seating and extra space can often be very important for exams, and we want to be able to offer space that will allow it. Due to space and time constraints, we do want to be assured the basic needs for space are met first.
Generally, rooms not filling to 60% will go into review. Exceptions to this review are applied to small classes where they cannot reasonably fill most standard classrooms and in some specialized spaces such as discipline-specific labs, gyms, fields and courts.
