College supervisors are key to the success of our teacher preparation program. Their commitment to our teacher candidates during their student teaching semester is unparalleled.
Student Teaching
Student teaching is the culmination of SUNY Cortland's teacher education program. It provides the opportunity to put all early field experiences and pedagogical instructions into practice.
Guidelines and expectations for college supervisors are outlined in the Student Teaching Handbook. Along with regular feedback, the college supervisor provides online mid-quarter and final evaluations for each student teacher. Supervisors are also responsible for submitting final grades through myRedDragon. Submission dates for grades are set by the Registrar's Office and are separate from STE deadline dates.
The Field Experience and School Partnerships Office is responsible for compensating college supervisors for travel to school sites for observation, conferences, and seminars during each student teaching semester. Academic departments recruit, hire, train and direct field supervisor job responsibilities.
