Excessive Violation Towing
SUNY Cortland will tow vehicles that belong to an account that has reached an excessive amount of life-time tickets (whether paid or unpaid). Vehicles may be towed when either the number of unpaid tickets is reached, or the number of total violations has been reached.
If your vehicle has been towed, you will need to contact Parking Operations at 607-753-4123 during normal business hours (M-F, 8 AM - 4 PM) to determine which off-site location your vehicle has been taken to.
For after-hours information, please contact University Police at 607-753-2112.
Overnight Vehicle Recovery Information
SUNY Cortland will tow unattended vehicles that interfere with operational needs and/or create hazardous conditions. Some examples include:
- Overnight parking ban violations
- Fire lane violations
- Vehicles left in areas not designated for vehicle usage
If a vehicle has been towed, the following shall apply:

NOTE: While payment for violation and tow surcharge is not required to recover vehicle, charges will post to your SUNY Cortland account. Failure to pay within 7 days will result in account being placed on HOLD status.
- If your citation reads Overnight Parking (2-6 AM) – Offsite Unknown Registrant Tow, your vehicle has been towed off site. For more information, please contact University Police at 607-753-2112.
If you have received notice that your vehicle has been towed for any other violations, please contact University Police at 607-753-2112 for more information.
