Richard Coyne ’07, vice president of institutional advancement at SUNY Cortland, guides the university’s fundraising initiatives and efforts in alumni engagement, government affairs, public relations and print and electronic communications.
After graduating from SUNY Cortland with a B.A. in Communication Studies in 2007, Coyne earned an M.S. in management from Stevens Institute of Technology in 2009.
Coyne started at the university in 2010 as general manager of the Lynne Parks ’68 SUNY Cortland Alumni House. He moved into development in 2014, first as a major gift officer and later as senior gift officer in 2017. Coyne was promoted to associate vice president for institutional advancement in 2020.
He has led a variety of fundraising initiatives including the current structure for athletic fundraising, the creation of the Student Emergency Fund, the Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Fund and the Michael J. Bond ’75, M.D. Alumni/Undergraduate Science Symposium. Coyne also played a major role throughout the All In: Building on Success comprehensive campaign that concluded in 2022 raising more than $30 million for supporting students and key university initiatives.
Coyne, a native of Wantagh, N.Y., currently lives in Cicero with his wife Kasie and his children Maggie and Jack.
