Get Started: Online orientation
Beginning mid-November, you can sign up for an online advising session through myRedDragon.
Follow these steps:
- Select "Admissions" from the top header in myRedDragon.
- Locate the "Orientation" box on the right side of the page.
- Select the menu link "New Student Orientation Sign Up."
- Complete all of the required fields.
- Select your online advising session date.
- Confirm your reservation.
After you have selected your January session date, you will complete the Online Resources and Support Modules to learn about:
- Academics
- Paying for college
- Living on campus
- Safety and community expectations
Advising, registration and meeting other students
Online orientation will take place on January 17. Orientation will be online via Webex between 12:30 p.m. and 4:45 p.m. During this time you will:
- Meet your Orientation Assistant and other new students and review the day (12:30 p.m.)
- Learn about your major in a small group setting with a faculty member (1 p.m.)
- Individually discuss your schedule with a faculty member (a 25-minute discussion time will be assigned to you between 1:45 p.m. and 4:45 p.m.)
You will select the date through the Orientation Sign Up process in myRedDragon.
Orientation and Welcome Week
All new students will attend in person Orientation on Friday, January 24! Check-in at 9 a.m. in Corey Union Exhibition Lounge. The Orientation will conclude by 3 p.m.
New students will move into their assigned residence hall on Thursday, January 23. Details about the move-in process (including specific move-in times) and housing assignments will be shared by Residence Life and Housing. A schedule of welcome activities is coming soon!
Fees
The cost of the Orientation program is covered by your new student fee, which will appear on your student bill. The fee also covers your ID card, programming for the first few weeks of the semester, and your Student Planner.
What to expect during Orientation
All incoming students attend one of our programs. Our program is built on providing you with strategies to be successful by helping you make a smooth transition. Through the program you will:
- Learn about campus resources
- Learn about your transfer credit evaluation
- Learn about academic and campus policies
- Have a small group meeting with a faculty advisor
- Register for classes
- Meet other new students
