Four senior communication studies majors created "Senioritis Productions," an art exhibition and entertainment showcase, which opens on Thursday, April 15, at 15 Main St. in downtown Cortland.

Gov. David A. Paterson announced that the National Football League’s New York Jets have entered into a three-year agreement with SUNY Cortland establishing the campus as the site of its summer football training camp and attracting both economic activity and visitors to the central New York campus.

SUNY Cortland President Erik J. Bitterbaum joins the New York Campus Compact (NYCC) Executive Committee, dedicated to promoting service-learning in higher education, on July 1.

Two SUNY Cortland students will participate in a SUNY-wide symposium showcasing undergraduate research. Biological sciences majors Amanda Howard and Nicole Chodkowski will represent the College at “SUNY Undergraduates Shaping New York’s Future: A Showcase of Scholarly Posters at the Capitol,” on Tuesday, April 13, in Albany, N.Y.

Volunteers are needed for Community Clean-Up Day planned in the City of Cortland on Saturday, April 17. The clean-up will begin at 9 a.m. at the Chamber of Commerce building, 37 Church St. Garbage bags and gloves will be provided. Coffee and bagels will be available from 8:30-9 a.m.

A limited number of general admission tickets for The Fray’s April 24 concert at SUNY Cortland went on sale on Thursday, April 8, and will continue until the event is sold out, said College organizers. Tickets are $30 each and may be purchased online through the College Bookstore.

Mary McDonald, who directs outreach, consulting and research at the Eden II School/The Genesis Programs and Rutgers University, will present a workshop on social skills development in people on the autism spectrum on Thursday, April 15.

Four SUNY Cortland seniors were honored with 2010 State University of New York Chancellor’s Awards for Student Excellence.

Two SUNY Cortland graduates, University of Wyoming President Thomas Buchanan and Wells College President Lisa Marsh Ryerson, will receive honorary degrees from State University of New York during the Undergraduate Commencement exercises in Park Center Alumni Arena on Saturday, May 22.

Scottish digital artist Paul Higham teams up with British sculptor Coral Lambert to present an exhibition titled “The Work of Art in the Age of Mechanical Reproduction” from April 5-16 at Dowd Gallery.
