Mark Dodds

Mark Dodds, Sport Management Department, recently co-authored a case study about issues facing an athletic department's ticket office with former colleague James Reese, now at Drexel University, and two others. This case study was accepted for publication by Case Studies in Sport Management online journal.

Kathleen A. Lawrence

Kathleen A. Lawrence, Communication Studies Department, has had a second poem, “I Am Puerto Rico,” accepted for publication in New Verse News. Her poem will appear on top of the page on Tuesday, Oct. 10. The poem speaks to the beauty, strength and indomitable spirit of the people of Puerto Rico and the richness of their culture despite the ravages of Hurricane Maria. 

Chad Hovey

Chad Hovey, Art and Art History Department, submitted his graphic art works and was selected as a part of the America’s National Design Competition. His work will be shown in this year's 2012 Print Regional Design Annual. Three of the pieces will be on display at the faculty biannual in the Dowd Gallery from Tuesday, Oct. 30, through Saturday, Dec. 15. The opening reception for the Dowd Gallery event is Thursday, Nov. 1. Dowd Gallery is now located on the third floor of Main Street SUNY Cortland at 9 Main St. In addition, all of the pieces will be on display in San Francisco, Calif., next summer at the HOW conference in the Design Awards Gallery. His work also will be celebrated on Print Magazine’s website under the Regional Design review.

Deborah Matheron

Deborah Matheron, Communication Disorders and Sciences Department, presented “Respiratory and Laryngeal Interactions During Speech: Speakers with Multiple Sclerosis and Their Healthy Peers” at the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association National Convention on Nov. 18 in Philadelphia, Pa.

Jean W. LeLoup

Jean W. LeLoup, professor emerita (Spanish), International Communications and Culture Department, and the U.S. Air Force Academy, along with colleague Haning Z. Hughes, had their article “Time and history in lyrics: A unique approach to teaching culture and civilization,” published in NECTFL Review 81, the journal of the Northeast Conference on the Teaching of Foreign Languages. In addition, with colleague Barbara Schmidt-Rinehart, their article “El voseo: A call to action” in Visionary essays:  The future of Spanish and Portuguese” was published in the centenary issue of Hispania 100. Hispania is the official journal of the American Association of Teachers of Spanish and Portuguese.

Denise D. Knight

Denise D. Knight, English Department, had her essay, “‘that pure New England stock’: Charlotte Perkins Gilman and the Construction of Identity,” published as the opening chapter in Charlotte Perkins Gilman: New Texts, New Contexts (Ohio State University Press, 2011). Knight also has been informed that her “Note on Gilman’s Supplement to ‘A Conservative’” has been accepted by ANQ: A Quarterly Journal of Short Articles, Notes, and Reviews. In June, she will present two papers at the Fifth International Conference on Gilman in Missoula, Mont.: “Gilman Abroad,” and “Artistic Renderings of Charlotte Perkins Gilman.”

Kathleen A. Lawrence

Kathleen A. Lawrence, Communication and Media Studies Department, received word her poem titled “Too Many to Count,” previously published in The Daily Abuse, has been accepted by an anthology to be published by Guts Publishing later this year.

Jeffrey Radloff and Dominick Fantacone

Jeffrey Radloff, Childhood/Early Childhood Education Department, and Dominick Fantacone, School of Education and regional director for the New York State Master Teacher Program, presented a paper titled, “Using event mapping to investigate secondary master teachers’ enactment of Naval STEM tasks” at the NARST 2022 Annual International Conference on March 30 in Vancouver, British Columbia. NARST is a global organization for improving science education through research. Fantacone is regional director for the New York State Master Teacher Program.

Larissa True

Larissa True, Kinesiology Department, recently had her article “Motor Competence and Characteristics within the Preschool Environment” published in the Journal of Science and Medicine in Sport.

Jeanine Rose and Susan Mayberry

Jeanine Rose and Susan Mayberry, Academic Support and Achievement Program, recently attended the 8th International Conference for Supplemental Instruction in Chicago. They are coordinators for the Supplemental Instruction Program.
