Taking care of yourself during finals week

Taking care of yourself during finals week

05/06/2024

The following note was sent to students on behalf of President Erik J. Bitterbaum

Dear students,

With the last week of the semester upon us, I wanted to send a note of appreciation for your effort this semester and wish you success on your final exams and assignments.

The end of the academic year can bring many emotions, but it is especially important to prioritize your personal health and well-being. Continue to do your best work and remember the resources available during finals week.

  • Early week events: PAWS for Stress Relief takes place today and Tuesday from noon to 4 p.m., in the Student Life Center Gymnasium, with dogs to pet and relaxing activities. Moonlight Breakfast offers a free meal and a wonderful reason to take a late-night study break tonight from 10 to 11:30 p.m. tonight in the Bistro.

  • Academic support: There are many offices that provide helpful services year-round, especially at the end of the semester. They include The Learning Center, the Writing Center, Memorial Library and Advisement and Transition.

  • Mental health resources: Uwill is a free online mental health resource that allows you to immediately schedule a telehealth appointment with a licensed provider on your own schedule. The Counseling Center continues to provide free and confidential mental health assistance for all students.

For students moving out of residence halls or off-campus housing, we ask that you consider donating items rather than throwing them away through the university’s partnership with Cortland ReUse. Collection boxes are available in residence halls until Saturday, May 11. Off-campus students can bring donations directly to Cortland ReUse at 186 Homer Ave. in Cortland.

You all have worked very hard this year, and the spring semester’s finish line is in sight. Please continue to take care of yourself and be kind and respectful of each other.

All the best,

Erik J. Bitterbaum
President
