Reminders on COVID-19 safety

08/18/2022

Dear campus community,

I hope that you have had a wonderful summer break and are excited for the start of the new academic year.

I want to share a few reminders about SUNY Cortland’s COVID-19 policies for the upcoming semester. The health of our faculty, staff and students is crucial. I ask that you do your part to be mindful and vigilant about COVID-19 safety.

Please note:

  • All students are strongly encouraged to take a rapid antigen test before they arrive in Cortland. If you do test positive, stay home and notify your associate dean and the Residence Life and Housing Office if you live on campus.
  • Students with approved medical or religious exemptions will be required to participate in weekly surveillance testing.
  • Face coverings are optional in most public indoor spaces but are required in healthcare settings such as Student Health Service.
  • If you have any COVID-19 symptoms at any point during the semester, please test and stay home if you are positive. I ask you to take this personal responsibility seriously. Staying home if you are ill is the best way to prevent the spread of the virus among the campus community.

More information is available on the COVID-19 Safety Information page, which will be updated regularly throughout the semester. Important changes will also be communicated via email.

Thank you for your attention to these policies. I wish you all great success throughout these upcoming months.

All the best,

Erik J. Bitterbaum

President
