President encourages students to meet with advisors

04/01/2021

Dear students,

SUNY Cortland anticipates returning to in-person classes in Fall 2021. As we continue to make plans for our return, I want to remind you about the importance of meeting with your academic advisor and registering for classes. Planning ahead will help ensure a successful start in the fall.

Please remember that you must schedule an appointment with your academic advisor to get your PIN before registering for classes at your assigned time. Your advisor can be an excellent resource, especially if you send questions before you meet.

Some other reminders related to academic advising:

  • Start by visiting myRedDragon, where you can learn when to register based on your Time Ticket, manage any “holds” on your student account and verify your advisor’s name.

  • Email your advisor to make an appointment, then review helpful resources through the Student tab in myRedDragon. Check your academic progress in Degree Works, browse available classes in the course schedule and identify potential options using Schedule Builder.

  • Staff members in Advisement and Transition can help answer registration questions in person or online from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on weekdays. You can connect through Webex, schedule an in-person appointment or consult over the phone by calling 607-753-4726.

Above all, remember that support is available in many forms. You can contact your academic advisor with specific registration questions or Advisement and Transition for help with more general academic guidance.

Thank you for the extraordinary commitment you’ve made to your classes during this challenging semester. You have my deepest respect. I am confident your dedication will lead to success next semester and beyond.

All the best,

Erik J. Bitterbaum

President
