“Chelsea Lately” Comedian to Visit

Cortland-area fans of “Chelsea Lately” will be able to laugh at a live performance by one of the popular TV show’s stars Saturday, when stand-up comedian, actress and best-selling author Heather McDonald does a free show on campus.

McDonald’s performance, which is open to the public, is scheduled for 8 p.m. in the Corey Union Function Room.

McDonald is best known for her work on “Chelsea Lately,” the E! network’s top-rated show, for which she is a full-time writer, regular comedy panelist and story producer. A talented celebrity impersonator, McDonald has spoofed Kim Kardashian, Sarah Palin, Miley Cyrus and many others on the comedy show.

But her credits involve more than “Chelsea Lately.”

Her debut comedy book, You’ll Never Blue Ball in this Town Again, spent seven weeks on the New York Times bestseller list and climbed to the No. 1 position on Amazon’s “Bestsellers in Entertainment” list.

McDonald also recently created and co-hosted a pilot for E! with fellow “Chelsea Lately” regular Ross Mathews entitled “Love or Hate.” She’s also appeared in the series “After Lately,” which follows the “Chelsea Lately” cast and crew in a “mockumentary” style.

As a comedian, McDonald has performed alongside Chelsea Handler — the star of “Chelsea Lately” — in sold-out venues across the country. She also collaborates regularly with the Wayans Brothers and has served as a writer for their films “White Chicks” and “Dance Flick.”

For the past eight years, she has written for Us Weekly’s “Fashion Police.” McDonald also has appeared on hit television shows such as “Frasier,” “Reno 911” and “Drake and Josh.”

Her Saturday performance at SUNY Cortland is sponsored by the College’s Student Activity Board.
