The Fray's April 24 Concert Tickets Available

04/08/2010

A limited number of general admission tickets for The Fray’s April 24 concert at SUNY Cortland went on sale on Thursday, April 8, and will continue until the event is sold out, said College organizers.

Tickets are $30 each and may be purchased online through the College Bookstore.

The 8 p.m. concert, part of the campus celebration titled “Spring Fling 2010,” will be held in the Park Center Alumni Arena on campus. Doors open at 7 p.m.

Formed in 2002 by Denver, Colo., schoolmates Joe King and Isaac Slade, The Fray soon added lead guitarist David Welsh and drummer Benjamin Wysocki to compliment King’s guitar and Slade’s piano work.  The original duo also handles the group’s vocal and songwriting duties.

A mix of pop-rock and alternative-rock, The Fray released its debut CD, the seven-track “Reason” EP, in 2003.

In September 2005, the quartet released its first full-length album, "How To Save A Life", which peaked at #14 on The Billboard 200 chart. The CD spawned two massive smash hits with "Over My Head (Cable Car)" which climbed into the top 10 of The Billboard Hot 100 and "How To Save A Life", which rose to the #3 slot on the same chart, both of which crossed over to The Hot Modern Rock Tracks at #37 and #31, respectively.

The CD went on to sell over two million copies in U.S. alone and became a top 10 in Canada, a top 5 in U.K. and a #1 album in Australia; another single, "Look After You", reached the #59 position on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100 over one year after the album's release.

The Colorado-based rockers returned in February 2009, with their eponymously self-titled album reaching the top spot of The Billboard 200 Albums chart. The disc includes "You Found Me" another Billboard Hot 100 top 10 hit and a Hot Modern Rock top 40 entrant for the band.

The Fray is excited to open up for U2 for several stadium shows in June.
