"Drawing Outside the Lines," an exhibition of work by SUNY Cortland Art and Art History Department students, opened Wednesday, March 18, at the Beard Building Gallery.

The artists, all students in upper level drawing classes of Caitlin Applegate, adjunct professor of art and art history, will discuss their work between 10:30 a.m.-2:30 p.m. on Thursday, March 19.

The drawings will be on display through Tuesday, March 31, at the gallery, located in the Main Street SUNY Cortland building at 9 Main Street. The opening as well as the gallery talk and all gallery exhibitions are free and open to the public.

"‘Drawing Outside the Lines' features conventional, observational drawings as well as those that expand the traditional definitions of the medium, representing cutting-edge directions in contemporary drawing," said gallery curator Kathryn Kramer, an associate professor of art and art history at SUNY Cortland.

The Beard Building Gallery is a collaboration between the Cortland Downtown Partnership, the Cultural Council of Cortland County and SUNY Cortland. The first floor gallery is open Monday through Friday between 10 a.m. and 3 p.m.
