Works on Paper: Heather Ramsdale
August 27 - October 6, 2018
The collection of six stencil paintings on paper by sculptor Heather Ramsdale reveals a process of an evolution of thought where shapes and forms grow from a sheet of paper to a full-blown object occupying three-dimensional space. Even though these pieces appear very formal in their black frames, they were conceived as part of an experiment, part of an exploration of negative and positive space. However, the decisive outcome compliments the free-standing objects and sculptural wall pieces located in the main Dowd Gallery exhibition space, and they become an organic part of the feature exhibition. The extensive collection of objects on display suggests questions associated with intended and actual physical form in the context of passing time.
