Campus ChampionAnnaMaria Cirrincione, director of the Multicultural Life and Diversity Office, saw an opportunity to create a more powerful campus presence for National Hispanic Heritage Month by highlighting all the Latinx events hosted by student groups and faculty on a joint calendar. From Sept. 15 to Oct. 15, we recognize the contributions of Latinx Americans to the country’s history and culture. “We can provide a home away from home for our students looking to connect with and celebrate their culture,” said AnnaMaria. She’s a champion for Voice Office organizations, coordinates mentoring and programming for underrepresented students, and co-chairs the Kente Committee. Fichtner directed, co-wrote and starred in the film, which also featured several Cortland students as extras. The screening, which packed Old Main Brown Auditorium, was followed by a question-and-answer session and autograph signing. “Cold Brook” is set for theatrical release on Nov. 8.
