Campus Champion

When Nate Farrington tells you he’s in a tight spot, he means it literally. The outdoor recreation major and student manager of the Student Life Center’s climbing wall recently rescued a trapped dog by descending into a foot-wide rock crevice at an area nature preserve. Although the daring effort made regional headlines, it’s the kind of adventure Farrington, an avid climber and caver, said he’s been having for most of his life. After studying film, writing and social work, the 32-year-old non-traditional student says he’s finally found his niche in SUNY Cortland’s outdoor education program. You can read more about his dog rescue here.
